Understanding Sentence:
The teacher implements the understanding of different ways of communication, such as verbal, nonverbal and media, and realizes that using such ways promote a interactive enviroment in the classroom.
Reflect:
The artifacts that I chose for this standard represent this standard because they both show knowledge of communication and how I can put such practices into effect in a classroom. The artifact that I chose for 6.A was the final that I took in Linguistics. It was a final in which we used our knowledge of the class and what we had learned to answer question about language and why it was important. This is a good example of this specific category of this standard because it shows that I understand language development and the role of language in learning. Throughout this class, I learned alot about language and how it is the essence of everything we say and most of what we know. It was good to know this information, since I will be having to teach students soon and with me having that knowledge of language, I will be able to better teach my students. The other artifact that I chose for 6.F are the class notes from a seminar that I attended about Love and Logic. This artifact relates to this specific category because it shows the many ways in which there are too communicate in a classroom and that the teacher encourages such methods. This seminar taught about how to effectively manage a classroom and how to communicate with a child without yelling or raising your voice.
Project:
I feel that these artifacts are helping me become a better teacher because I have a better understanding of how to use communication as a tool in the classroom to be able to communicate with children an a level that is both healthy for the teacher and the student. Another thing that I learned from these artifacts is that language is an important aspect of teaching and I will be able to be a better teacher by incorporating my language knowledge for the children in my classroom. The Love and Logic seminar gave me some very good ideas that I plan on implementing in my future classroom because it involves the children in communication with the teacher and it seems to be an valuable solution for a well disciplined classrom.
